The Mystery Of Why Shoelaces Come Untied

Image
The laces on the left are tied in a strong knot that lies horizontally. The laces on the right are tied in a knot that makes the bow lie vertically and which, according to new research, can come untied more easily. Untangling: For more than 40 years, Oliver O'Reilly's shoelaces have been coming untied pretty much every day. And for most of those 40 years O'Reilly didn't think too much about it. But then, about a decade ago, his daughter Anna was learning to tie her shoes, and O'Reilly decided his shoelace problem wasn't worth passing on to another generation. "I didn't want her to inherit my problems, so I went online and found some really helpful videos to teach me how to tie her shoelaces," he says. Perhaps if O'Reilly had had a different job, that's where the shoelace problem would have stopped. But  Oliver O'Reilly  is a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley...

Mississippi Man Sues R. Kelly for Allegedly Breaking Up His Marriage

Image
HINDS COUNTY, MS - A Hinds County deputy is suing singer R. Kelly for an alleged affair with his wife. Kenny Bryant filed the complaint on April 21, 2017. Most recently, on April 24, a summons was filed requiring R. Kelly to respond to the complaint. In the lawsuit, Bryant claims that his wife, Asia Childress, had a romantic relationship with Kelly prior to their July 15, 2012, wedding but told him that it had ended.Bryant said the relationship with Kelly rekindled when his wife attended one of his concerts in October 2012. According to the lawsuit, around this time Childress was treated for chlamydia, which she allegedly contracted from Kelly. Some time afterward, Bryant said his wife convinced him to quit his job and move to Atlanta to further her career, although now Bryant believes her underlying motive was to continue her affair. During this time, he claims Childress would leave him to go to R. Kelly concerts in nearby states in order to reunite with him...

She occasionally tells me off for that." But one area that doesn't spark arguments with the couple is cooking meals. John said: "Chrissy and I cook to relax. I've very good at making fried chicken, macaroni cheese, omelettes and pancakes... Then we just hang out and watch TV. Netflix and chill, as they say." The 38-year-old star admits one of his most embarrassing moments ever was when Chrissy drunkenly posted a photo of his "bare ass" online in July 2015. BET Networks & FX Networks Nab ‘Black-ish’

Image
Disney/ABC has completed the off-network syndication sales for ABC’s praised comedy series Black-ish by licensing it to BET Networks in a shared cable window with FX Networks. Black-ish will make its debut on the cable networks in fall 2018 when the comedy also will launch in broadcast syndication with Tribune Broadcasting as the core station group (the show has been cleared in over 90% of the country). Additionally, Hulu recently picked up Black-ish‘s SVOD rights. With all three sales in the bag, Black-ish, now in Season 3, is certain to get a fourth-season renewal by ABC. BET Networks was the first to nab rights to Black-ish for a license fee around or north of $500,000 per episode and an option to play the comedy on two Viacom networks at the same time. The shared window was then auctioned off, with FX Network landing it for what I hear is a license fee in the neighborhood of $300,000 an episode. “We’re excited to partner with Disney/ABC in bringing this bold and beloved series...
