After making historic waves on the Billboard charts and racking up at her very first BET Hip Hop Awards, there was no way rap’s beloved breakout star Cardi B would've repaid the people with a lukewarm performance. Your girl went  all  out by bringing a piece of the Bronx to Miami. Cardi B was bussin’ all kinds of money moves on a set designed to look like a block in the Boogie Down Bronx. No, we’re not talking about cheesy little subway backdrops. Cardi emerged on staged from a bodega with street dudes shooting dice and doing jungle gym pull-ups in the distance. As if that weren’t enough, Cardi's army of dancers turned the sexy all the way up, adding high energy to her performance. Oh, can we just talk about how fab she looked? There was absolutely nothing regular about her floor-length multi-color mink coat with matching Gucci shades – a look fit for a star! Now  that’s  how you prove your talent and put on for your city! DJ Khaled hosted the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards and was  pre-taped September 17 in Atlanta. In addition to his hosting duties, DJ Khaled made good on his “All I Do Is Win” promise, winning DJ of the Year, MVP of the Year and Hustler of the Year. Drake ruled with 14 nominations and won Video of the Year for his infectious dance moves in “Hotline Bling” as well as Album of the Year for VIEWS. Betty Wright  is an undisputed legend and her Hip Hop Awards performance of  DJ Khaled’s  hit “Major Key” is memorable, but not for the full set. During the climax of her performance, she hit quite a high note and it looked, at least from our view, that it was taking over her life. The taping of the BET Hip-Hop awards took place this past weekend (Sept. 17) at at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre a few miles north of Atlanta.  Snoop Dogg a.k.a the Dogg Father of the Rap game was the night's honoree. He was awarded the prestigious "I am Hip-Hop award," which was appropriately presented by Kendrick Lamar. “To all the young rappers in the game, a lot of people don’t understand you. Y’all are misunderstood,” said Snoop with Kendrick Lamar standing beside him. “I was misunderstood at the beginning. So you got to keep pushing, be original and diverse. Hip-hop was created many years ago and it’s taken people so many places. You have to be who you are.” The event was star-studded as usual, with an attention demanding roster of artists featuring  T.I., Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi, Desiigner, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and of course, DJ "I got the Keys" Khaled as the evening's host.
