When a fast-talking guy joins his girlfriend’s brother—a hot-tempered cop—to patrol the streets of Atlanta, he gets entangled in the officer’s latest case. Now, in order to prove that he deserves his future bride, he must survive the most insane 24 hours of his life. For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben (Hart) has been trying to show decorated APD detective James (Cube) that he’s more than just a video-game junkie who’s unworthy of James’ sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he’s earned the seasoned policeman’s respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela. Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. The 13 Best Movies of 2013 That No One Is Talking About

Image
Year In Review: The 13 Best Movies of 2013 That No One Is Talking About   There are big movies and there are little movies. I mean that entirely in the sense of budget and release, promotion and theatrical scope. In the United States we talk most about our wide studio releases, then homegrown smaller independent films and the big-name foreign imports. But that leaves quality filmmaking to fall through the cracks. Movies that, for one reason or another, no one seems to be talking about. There are overlooked gems, and then there are the deep cuts. The homegrown niche dramas, the Irish horror flicks, the Latin American comedies, the Scandinavian experiments in nonfiction? This year saw some extraordinary unheralded work from abroad, alongside some excellent films that came from unexpected domestic places. Here are thirteen of them. Concussion There aren’t enough independent lesbian dramas (or comedies, for that matter) released in the United States. This is a

Denzel Washington being considered to play Green Lantern in Batman vs Superman

Image
Denzel Washington is reportedly being courted to play the part of Green Lantern in the Batman vs Superman film. Washington, Oscar-winning star of Flight and Training Day, is in the running to play the ring-wielding superhero opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The Training Day actor is being considered for the role of Green Lantern, John Stewart. If this proves to be true, Green Lantern will join an ever growing list of members from DC’s Justice League of America that also include Superman Batman and Wonder Woman.’   Do you think Denzel would suit the suit?  It’s probably best to take this latest news with a hefty pinch of salt. The Batman vs Superman film is out July 17, 2015 and also sees Amy Adams return as Lois Lane. Ben Affleck will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman opposite Henry Cavill as Superman Meanwhile, Gadot has revealed she’s been undergoing some rigorous training to prepare her for her role.

Jay Z and Beyoncé Making big $$ drops in NYC and Atlanta

Image
Looks like  Beyoncé  and  Jay Z  are heating things up…!   The hip-hop power couple, according to reports, stopped by the NYC sex shop Babeland, where they dropped around $6,000 on sex toys! “They didn’t buy anything tacky or too extreme. It was all top-of-the-line stuff. Some of it was even gold-plated!” the source said. On to the ATL..... Power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé spent nearly $100,000 on drinks for the VIP section of Atlanta's Club Reign in Georgia on Friday night. The dynamic couple were out celebrating their massively successful careers, which recently included her record setting iTunes album and his nine Grammy nominations . Jay Z, meanwhile, released his own hit album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” in July and learned this month he’d received nine Grammy nominations — more than any other performer. They're drunk in love — Jay Z and Beyoncé partied at Atlanta’s Club Reign on Friday night and generously bought nearly $100,000 in drinks for

Kim Shows Off Her Custom Explicit Christmas Gift From Yeezy

Image
You have to be a special kind of girl to get Christmas gifts from  Kanye West , and you’d have to be  Kim Kardashian  to actually get away with being able to wear them. Yesterday while the world was hitting the stores to return their Christmas gifts, KimYe were out buying more as they hit up a sport store in Los Angeles. Kim was beaming in her shopping get up that included a  Céline Fall 2013 Coat paired with white Denim Skinnies, $618 Saint Laurent Paris Suede Pumps, and the icing on the cake, an Hermés Custom  George Condo  Hand Painted Birkin. If the work of art looks familiar, it’s because Condo is the artist that produced  the visuals for Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album , the same one that was banned from Walmart and Target that resulted in the blurred cover Kanye eventually released. Yeezy’s Twitter Icon is also a work of art from Condo as the artist has prior produced 5 pieces for Yeezy, making this Birkin bag his 6th. In Kim’s personalized painting, she

U.S. Secretary of State and iconic rapper hang out at White House party

Image
In the early 1990s, Calvin Broadus, better known by assorted aliases such as Snoop Dogg, Snoopzilla and Snoop Lion, was considered one of the most controversial/borderline dangerous rappers on the planet. Two decades later, the well-known lover of marijuana, firearms and “gin and juice” has completed the transition from gangsta rapper to White House socialite. Snoop Dogg  &  John Kerry  Up In Da White House! During a party earlier in December hosted by the Obama Administration at the White House to honor the 2013 Kennedy Center Honorees, Snoop-a-loop found time to chat it up with Secretary of State John Kerry. Shoddy audio makes it difficult to determine whether they discussed the endless bloodletting in Syria, geopolitics in former Soviet states or their favorite dance floors in D.C., but the pair certainly ended the exchange with an amicable fist bump initiated by Kerry.

13 States to Raise Their Minimum Wage For 2014

Image
W ASHINGTON -- Minimum wage workers in a handful of states will be ringing in the new year with an automatic pay raise. As Congress considers legislation that would boost the federal minimum wage, at least 13 states will be raising the wage floor on their own next week. They're led once again by Washington state, which will continue to have the highest state minimum wage in the nation, at $9.32 per hour. A few cities and counties around the country will be raising their minimum wages as well, including San Francisco, which will set its at $10.74. San Francisco's base will no longer be the highest municipal minimum wage in the country, however, after voters in SeaTac, Wash., approved a ballot measure setting a $15 wage floor for an estimated 6,000 airport workers. The SeaTac minimum wage is set to go into effect Jan. 1, although it's currently being challenged in court. Most of next week's increases will come courtesy of an inflation index. Ten states have tie
