Trooping the Colour has commemorated the birthday of the sovereign for more than 250 years and also functions as a display of army drills, music and horsemanship. The Queen will celebrate her official birthday with the Trooping the Colour parade. She was the first British sovereign to embrace photography  as a means of making the royal brand accessible to the public since the medium was introduced shortly after she ascended the throne.
