Natalia Lafourcade, 'Hasta La Raíz': For The Record

Embodying Latin musical heritage is an important component for artists adding to that tradition, and  Natalia Lafourcade 's album  Hasta La Raíz   demonstrated the young singer/songwriter could draw on those roots to stand out with her own fresh, original spirit. After 2012's  Mujer Divina  album in tribute to Mexico's master of song Agustín Lara, the Mexico City native took several years to travel and reconnect to original sources of inspiration inside herself. Drawing strength from her roots,  Hasta La Raíz , meaning "to the root," was released in 2015 and won Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 58th GRAMMY Awards.
