Laurence Fishburne could be making a return to the role of the Silver Surfer

Image
Could  Laurence Fishburne  be making a return to the role of the Silver Surfer, but for the  MCU  this time? Even just a month ago, this idea would have sounded pretty insane, but Disney recently purchased most of 21st Century Fox, which includes all of 20th Century Fox. Along with that, the rights to the  Fantastic Four ,  X-Men  and yes, Silver Surfer. So the idea of the character showing up in the MCU at some point isn't totally crazy. But will it happen and, more importantly, will it be Fishburne playing the part? A new theory suggests it's in the works. The theory comes from Reddit user atxknicks and, in light of recent events, doesn't seem too far-fetched. We know that Laurence Fishburne is going to play Bill Foster/Goliath in  Ant-Man and the Wasp . That's a done deal. But who's to say he couldn't also play Silver Surfer? Vin Diesel was going to play Black Bolt and Groot. In any case, here's how it was laid out on Reddit. "Laurence Fish

The Boeing 787-9 Dream-liner is Set to Become the New Giant in the sky

The 787 made its very first public appearance at an international air show at the Farnborough Airshow. While it was not a text book take off it did show the remarkable stability and strength of the design. Enjoy the ride! Watch as the 787 takes off in near vertical fashion. The back portion of the aircraft has colled tubing used to measure the true air pressure and compare it with varying levels of pressure near the plane. In 2010, the 787 finished an ultimate wing load test. This required that the aircraft was loaded to 150% of design limit load and held for 3 seconds. As you can see, the wing sweeps up.    The 787 has a “fly-by-wire” control system, and its flight deck contains LCD multi-function displays.  Reminiscent of a fighter aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 utilizes a head-up display, or HUD, which overlays electronic information about the pilot’s view. Auto Tinting Windows 787s have larger windows than other Boeing planes, plus they can digitally ti

Golden Globes: A Run on Black Gowns and #MeToo on the red carpet in Hollywood

Industry insiders are grappling with how to do the red carpet during the #MeToo movement. Following the cultural awakening in Hollywood over sexual harassment and gender inequality, industry insiders are trying to figure out how best to acknowledge the #MeToo movement during awards season in 2018. At the Golden Globes on Jan. 7, actresses, including nominees and presenters, are planning to wear black to  protest gender inequality and to acknowledge the flood of sexual abuse allegations that have rocked Hollywood beginning with Harvey Weinstein. This follows on the heels of the announcement that all the presenters at the Jan. 21 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be female. In a recent meeting at CAA about how to achieve gender equality in the industry (the agency is also taking the 50/50 by 2020 pledge), there was talk of a new protocol for the red carpet, one of the biggest platforms for women in Hollywood. "There was a discussion of crafting some sort of talking po

New blow for Uber: European courts say "Uber is officially a cab firm"

Image
Uber [UBER.UL] should be classified  as a transport service and regulated like other taxi operators, the European Union’s top court said in a landmark ruling on Wednesday that could impact other online businesses in Europe. Uber, which allows passengers to summon a ride through an app on their smartphones, has transformed the taxi industry since its launch in 2011 and now operates in more than 600 cities globally. In the latest of a series of legal battles, Uber had argued it was simply a digital app that acted as an intermediary between drivers and customers looking for a ride and so should fall under lighter EU rules for online services. hare this with Facebook   Image copyright Uber is officially a transport company and not a digital service, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled. The ride-hailing firm argued it was an information society service - helping people to make contact with each other el
