A$AP Rocky to Remain in Jail in Sweden

The Grammy-nominated rapper was first detained two weeks ago, on July 3. He was in Sweden to perform at a music festival. It started as a quarrel on a quiet Stockholm street, but the case of ASAP Rocky, the rapper detained in Sweden on a preliminary charge of assault, has escalated into an international incident, with politicians and diplomats weighing in, and his celebrity backers pulling strings at the White House. On Friday a court in Stockholm approved a request from prosecutors to hold Rocky in detention for at least six more days, on the grounds that the rapper was a flight risk. A spokesman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority said another hearing would be held on July 25 to determine whether he would be detained further. Rocky, 30, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is accused of assaulting a man in Stockholm on June 30 while he was in the city on tour. The 71st annual Prime-time Emmy Awards nominations announced

The 71st annual Prime-time Emmy Awards nominations announcement were revealed Tuesday, with returning drama series champ  Game of Thrones  back in the mix in a record way. The HBO epic which wrapped its final season this year set a new benchmark with 32 total nominations, the most for any program in a single season (beating  NYPD Blue ‘s previous mark). The series returns to the Best Drama series fight and also scored lead acting noms for Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, along with a slew of supporting noms — seven of the 12 slots in those categories went to GoT actors including Peter Dinklage returning to defend his title. Other big nom totals today: defending Comedy Series champ Amazon’s  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (20), HBO’s  Chernobyl  (19), NBC’s  Saturday Night Live  (18), HBO’s  Barry  (17), FX’s  Fosse/Verdon (17) and Netflix’s  When They See Us  (16). The ESPY Awards, ESPN's annual celebration for all things sports, were held Wednesday in Los Angeles. Comedian Tracy Morgan was the host for the 27th edition of the event.    And the ESPYS went to:    Best Breakthrough Athlete:  Saquon Barkley, running back, New York Giants. Best College Athlete:  Zion Williamson, Duke basketball player.  Best Record-Breaking Performance:   Drew Brees. Saints quarterback broke NFL all-time record for passing yards in monster Monday night performance against the Redskins.   Best Comeback:   St. Louis Blues. The Blues went from last in the league in early January to winning the franchise's first championship in their 52-year history in June.  Best Moment:  Lindsey Vonn, Rob Gronkowski, and Dwyane Wade cap incredible careers.
