TIME TO HEAL

Image
TIME TO HEAL When did so many in this great nation of ours turn into callous, cold, uncaring and selfish souls as characterized by many in the Republican and Tea Parties? The ad nauseam, vicious verbal battles being waged over the Affordable Care Act are reminiscent of an ugly, oozing sore not allowed to heal because we just keep picking at it. ACA is the law of the land. Why keep wasting precious time trying to repeal it? To a person on the Republican side of the aisle among the U.S. Senate contenders, the hue and cry is “repeal Obamacare.” It’s like a broken record. The three of us Democratic contenders are at polar opposites with the Republicans. We are in support of ACA and seek to improve it, not delay or repeal it. I am delighted by the President’s news that more than 7 Million Americans now have health insurance. I understand from a deep personal perspective what it means to be without health insurance and suffer with a debilitating condition. ...

STEEN MILES- Lucky Seven Point Plan

Image
Dear Friends: I’m Steen Miles and I’m running to be the next Democratic senator for the great state of Georgia. We need a senator in Washington who understands the needs of everyday Georgians. Money from special-interest groups drowns out the voices and needs of ordinary voters as illustrated by President Obama who said in his recent State of the Union Address that, “it is the power of the vote and not the size of the bank account that drives our democracy.” I couldn't agree more. My primary opponent in the Democratic primary raised $3.3 Million in three months from big money interests and billionaires! Do you have $2600 (maximum allowable per election) to contribute to a political campaign? Most of us do not. We have enough millionaires in Washington who are out of touch with our everyday realities of astronomically high utility bills, mortgages, college tuition's, car payments, medical expenses, etc. For the past 7 months since our announcement for office on t...

“Sadly, newly elected party Chair Dubose Porter is not a man of his word" FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   Nov. 14, 2013 - ATLANTA -- (November 12, 2013 - Decatur, Georgia) – Former State Senator Steen Miles, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, today filed an official complaint with the Georgia Democratic Party against Chairman Dubose Porter for violation of the party’s bylaws. “Sadly, newly elected party Chair Dubose Porter is not a man of his word and is in violation of Section 7 Section 1.7 of the Georgia Democratic Party Bylaws which explicitly prohibits supporting a Democratic candidate who has opposition during a primary or special election. The blatant disregard of other Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate and publicly stated support and other actions favoring one candidate over others is a clear violation of party rules, thwarts the democratic process and perpetuates ‘good ole boy’ blatantly discriminatory practices,” said Senator Miles. “It is not a go...
