The Golden Globes opened with a somber red carpet, where men and women dressed in all-black to support both Time’s Up and the #MeToo movement. Once the show began, the messages in support of women and equality didn’t stop. A group of A-list actresses had some important guests by their side during Sunday's Golden Globes red carpet. Michelle Williams, Emma Watson, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep, Shailene Woodley, Amy Poehler, and Emma Stone brought with them activists for gender and racial justice, including #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and Mónica Ramírez, co-founder of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas. "I'm moved beyond measure to be standing next to this woman," Williams told E! on the red carpet, standing alongside Burke. Industry insiders are grappling with how to do the red carpet during the #MeToo movement. Following the cultural awakening in Hollywood over sexual harassment and gender inequality, industry insiders are trying to figure out how best to acknowledge the #MeToo movement during awards season in 2018. At the Golden Globes on Jan. 7, actresses, including nominees and presenters, are planning to wear black to  protest gender inequality and to acknowledge the flood of sexual abuse allegations that have rocked Hollywood beginning with Harvey Weinstein. This follows on the heels of the announcement that all the presenters at the Jan. 21 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be female.
