Pharrell and Robin Thicke Have to Pay the Gaye Estate $7.3 Million For “Blurred Lines” Plagiarism Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were found guilty of plagiarizing their 2013 hit song “Blurred Lines” today. The Associate Press reports that they were guilty in an ongoing copyright infringement lawsuit with Marvin Gaye’s family and must fork over $7.3 million to the Gaye estate. Last week that the song made over $16.6 million, which was split between the artists and their respective record labels. Thicke and Williams both made a little more than $5 million each while Tip earned over $700,000 for his appearance on “Blurred Lines.” The remainder of the profit was split between Interscope, Universal Music Group and Star Trak Entertainment. Gaye Estate felt that the song ripped the iconic singer’s 1977 track “Got to Give It Up.” Reps for Pharrell, Robin and T.I. issued the following statement explaining that the decision is bad for art: ...

Music’s biggest night has come and gone as the 56th annual Grammy Awards kicked off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday. The 56th annual GRAMMY Awards show itself launched a fabulous night with  great performances' from Beyoncé and Jay Z. The power couple was followed by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Robin Thicke, Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, and Lorde, who hit the stage with the Song Of The Year . Sony Settles 'Blurred Lines' Lawsuit With Marvin Gaye's Family

Marvin Gaye family wins victory in 'Blurred Lines' copyright case. Publishing giant Sony/ATV and  Marvin Gaye 's estate have reached a settlement in the  ongoing lawsuit over Robin Thicke's 2013 smash Blurred Lines. The agreement spares Sony the position of defending their 30-percent market stake and the conflicts that come with it The Gayes had accused EMI of not pursuing a copyright infringement case against Thicke because "Blurred Lines" has similarities to Gaye's "Got to Give It Up." A Los Angeles judge on Tuesday granted Nona Marvisa Gaye and Frankie Christian Gaye's dismissal of their lawsuit against EMI, which is owned by Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Documents say the Gayes and Sony have an agreement and claims against Sony can't be brought again. While the terms of the settlement were not made public, as the case moves forward Sony/ATV will not have to defend giving copyrights to "Blurred Lines" and Gaye...

Nominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards were announced Friday (Dec. 6), with select categories getting a primetime rollout during the "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!" special on CBS. In terms of sheer numbers, Jay Z leads all with nine total nominations including best rap album; Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams each garner seven nods; Drake and engineer Bob Ludwig are up for five awards apiece. Robin Thicke will kick off tour in Atlanta, GA!!!

ROBIN THICKE   IN ATLANTA Yes! Robin Thicke is heading our way. Mr. “Blurred Lines” is hitting the road for a spring tour with Jessie J and DJ Cassidy that will launch in Atlanta at 7:45 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Fox Theatre. The tour will play only 15 cities, including Washington D.C., New York, Detroit and Atlantic City, N.J. Though Thicke ruled the charts all summer with his inescapable dance-funk jam, “Blurred Lines,” named Billboard song of the summer,  he’s been quietly building a career for a decade. In 2006, “Lost Without U” topped four Billboard charts simultaneously and the throwack soul singer made more chart noise in 2008-09 wtih “Magic” and “Sex Therapy.” Thicke has another hit on the R&B charts currently with “Give it 2 U,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, who  performs at Music Midtown  on Sept. 21.  Tickets for Thicke’s Atlanta date are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 20 through  www.foxtheatre.org  or by calling  1-85...
