Jada Pinkett Smith slams Golden Globes over Girls Trip snub

When the  Golden Globe nominations  were announced Monday (December 11), one film was glaringly absent from the list:  Girls Trip .  The film—which hit theaters over the summer and starred Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, and breakout star Tiffany Haddish—was unanimously praised by critics and  killed it at the box office. The fact that it didn't earn a nomination for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and that Haddish was ignored in the Best Supporting Actress category is problematic, to say the least.   The actress posted to Twitter on Monday (December 11) that she had "so much to say" about why Haddish and the film were snubbed by the Globes, but that she was going to remain tight-lipped. As the old show business saying goes “Dying is easy, and comedy is hard,” and that’s been the case for a number of titles in the genre at the box office this year which has dropped like flies. Take your pick:  Rough Night, Baywatch, The House, Fist Fight , the list goes on. Compare this to last year when four comedies –all released during the summer– held their own including  Ghostbusters  (it made $128M despite being a financial upset),  Central Intelligence  ($127.4M),  Bad Moms  ($113.3M) and  Sausage Party  ($97M) .
