Obama Begins Africa Tour in Senegal

Mr. Obama’s main purpose in Senegal is seen as highlighting Senegal’s democratic culture. Arriving in Senegal on Wednesday night, President Obama kicked off a weeklong trip to Africa. Ari filed this report from Dakar: "The streets here in Dakar are full of posters proclaiming, 'Welcome Obama.'" They show the U.S. president next to Senegal's recently elected president, Macky Sall. The posters almost make it look like the two are running mates in a campaign. "The images are plastered on walls, trees, fences, even statues. President Obama's visit here provides credibility to the Senegalese government. NPR's Ari Shapiro, who is traveling with the president, will keep us up to date on the president's visit.

Paula Deen apologizes; FIRED by Food Network over use of racial epithet.

Sorry, Paula Deen. No amount of butter is going to fix this.

'I beg for your forgiveness,' Deen said in her statement.

Paula Deen fired from Food Network despite video statement apologizing for racial slurJust after canceling an appearance on 'Today,' the celebrity chef and Food Network star issued a formal video statement to make amends for her use of the N-word. Alas, her home channel still gave her the boot.

On Friday afternoon, the Food Network announced that it was dropping Paula Deen from its network after 14 years on air. The chef had aired a series of arguably racist comments while being deposed for a lawsuit. But the deposition wasn't the first time that Paula Deen has voiced questionable views on race.Though she ultimately says that the abolition of slavery was a "terrific change," she also takes some time to defend the practice. She says, back then, "black folk were such integral part of our lives, they were like our family,…

Lil Wayne Stomps American Flag

Lil Wayne trampled the American flag over the weekend during a music video shoot, and there is footage to prove it. Lil Wayne stomped on an American flag over the weeken while filming a music video for "God Bless Amerika" in his hometown of New Orleans,
and it all started off harmlessly enough, with Weezy rapping in front of the flag.

Old Glory is then released to the ground - already a big no-no, as we learned on Flag Day - at which point Wayne continues to rap, while stomping on it.

Check out the footage from Wayne's video shoot below:

The lyrics, believe it or not, are just as controversial, which isn't shocking from a man who infamously rapped about beating up a p---y like Emmett Till.

"My country 'tis of thee / Sweet land of kill 'em all and let 'em die / God bless Amerika / This ole' godless Amerika," raps the lightning rod that is Tunechi.

It's his constitutional right to do this, of course ... but that doesn't mean people will line…
