Hollywood's Highest Paid Actors 2014

Image
Hollywood is increasingly in the business of making movies with disposable actors — performers who are almost interchangeable and easily replaced. The special effects and bombastic action sequences required for the modern blockbuster cost many millions of dollars. Any money studios can save by casting less-famous actors is money that can go to the bottom line. And if those actors can be easily swapped out in sequels, all the better. A disposable actor doesn’t really have the leverage to demand a big pay hike. If there’s one actor who has proved himself in-disposable, it’s Robert Downey Jr. The actor has made millions playing Iron Man and for the second year in a row, he tops FORBES’ list of the Top Earning Actors. We estimate that Downey earned $75 million between June 2013 and June 2014, the same amount as he earned last year. This list measures only the men. We will have a separate list of the Top Earning Actresses. Downey reigns as the highest paid man in Hollywood becaus

CEO Rivers to quit Clippers if Sterling stays

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The interim CEO of the Los Angeles Clippers testified Tuesday that coach Doc Rivers told him he will quit if Donald Sterling remains the owner of the team. CEO Richard Parsons made the statement at the trial to determine whether Sterling's wife Shelly Sterling can sell the team for $2 billion to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The NBA has tried to force out Donald Sterling since soon after racist statements emerged on recordings in April. "Doc is troubled by this maybe moreso than anybody else," Parsons said on the witness stand about Rivers, who is black. "If Mr. Sterling continues as owner, he does not want to continue as coach." Parsons said he fears there would also be an exodus of key players, including team captain Chris Paul, who also is black and heads the NBA players union. Parsons was about to give an account of his conversations with Paul but was stopped by an objection by an NBA lawyer who said it would be an inva

A Staten Island man dies after NYPD cop puts him in  choke hold A 400-pound asthmatic Staten Island dad died Thursday after a cop put him in a chokehold and other officers appeared to slam his head against the sidewalk, video of the incident shows. The entire incident was caught on video from a witness who kept telling the cops that the man had not committed a crime.  But evidently, the cops suspected him of selling untaxed cigarettes, which apparently is a very serious crime in New York City. “Esaw Garner holds a photo of her late husband with sons Emery (left) and Eric.” "When I kissed my husband this morning, I never thought it would be for the last time," Garner's wife, Esaw, said.  She got no details from police until after she had gone to the hospital to identify his body, she said.  “They’re covering their asses, he was breaking up a fight,” Garner’s mother said . “They harassed and harassed my husband until they killed him. Garner’s family said he d
