EU slaps Google with record $2.7 billion fine

BRUSSELS—The European Union’s antitrust regulator on Tuesday fined Alphabet Inc.’s Google a record €2.42 billion ($2.71 billion) for favoring its own comparison-shopping service in search results and ordered the search giant to apply the same methods to rivals as its own when displaying their services. The European Commission found that the U.S. tech giant denied "consumers a genuine choice" by using its search engine to unfairly steer them to its own shopping platform. Regulators said that Google must change its behavior within 90 days or face additional penalties. "What Google has done is illegal under EU antitrust rules," said Margrethe Vestager, the bloc's top antitrust official. "It denied other companies the chance to compete on the merits and to innovate. DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, New Edition to Perform at 2017 BET Awards

BET is set to orchestrate the turn-up for the upcoming BET Awards later this month. The latest performers slated to take the stage include  DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Big Sean, New Edition, Post Malone, Jessie Reyez and Roman Gianarthur. In May, it was announced that Migos, Bruno Mars, and Future  will be performing at BET 's annual awards show on June 25. Comedian Leslie Jones will be hosting the ceremony. Beyoncé leads the pack of nominees with seven nominations for  Lemonade .
