International acoustic jazz artist, Sheila Raye Charles, daughter of legendary Ray Charles, was the guest of honor at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Chicago, Illinois this week where she performed her fathers world famous song "Georgia on my mind" during the opening ceremony.

Georgia will play host to the National Conference of State Legislatures in 2013 and was proud to present the daughter of legendary Ray Charles, Father of the the official state song, as they greeted legislatures. Governor Nathan Deal and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle sent video remarks while Atlanta's mayor, Kasim Reed brought greetings.

Georgia's House Speaker, David Ralston was "honored and proud" to introduce Ms. Charles to legislator's from as far away as Tiawan and Kenya as well as every state in the U.S. and Canada and stated that he was "glad Georgia was on their minds".

Sheila Raye will perform a full concert with her orchestra on Wednesday during the official legislative luncheon at the McCormick Place, Chicago.

The National Conference of State Legislatures, a privately funded, and bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. The leadership of NCSL is composed of legislators and staff from across the country.

NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues.
