Sheila Raye to perform at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival
Atlanta, GA — Celebrating Classic Cinema & Timeless Music, the Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF) will premier Sheila Raye Charles,
the daughter of famed singer and Georgia native, Ray Charles, at their
Award Ceremony; being held, Sunday August 19th at the W-Hotel in
Atlanta, Georgia.
The ceremony is to be hosted by Comedian/Actor Rodney Perry & V-103 FM Radio Personality Ramona DeBreaux; Featuring: Terri J. Vaughn, Vivica Fox, Brian White, Naturi Naughton, Tommy Ford, Lisa Wu Hartwell, Omari Hardwick and many other celeb's. Sheila Raye, who is currently on her national tour, along with her brothers and sisters, are working on an world premiere of their own, (Remembering Our Father .com,) which celebrates their famous Father, Ray Charles on what would have been his 82nd birthday, on September 10, 2012 at the Buckhead theater in Atlanta. Sheila Raye will participate during the official awards and closing ceremonies for the annual event. Since 2006, PVIFF has brought the best of the best to Atlanta, and this year is no exception. the core mission of the PVIFF is to promote cultural diversity within the arts. Through its film showcases and programming, it annually introduces the top echelon of emerging artists to the film and television industry. With a 2012 programming line-up that features expanded creative and technical panels and workshops, conducted by some of the leading professionals in the entertainment industry, PVIFF2012 will once again demonstrate why it’s the most prestigious African-American film and arts festival in the southeast. The 4-day festival will be held at the W Hotel in midtown Atlanta and culminating Highlights from this year’s festival will include a special 20th anniversary celebration of “Boomerang,” featuring a special audience with its director Reggie Hudlin; a special screening series featuring Studio 11 Films showcasing 11 short films produced and directed by new talented artists mentored by actress Lisa Raye, actors Mel Jackson, Tommy Ford and others. The PVIFF2012’s Casting Workshop will be conducted by noted Casting Director, Nancy Klopper (“Ray,” “Fantastic Four”). The always popular pre-festival, PVIFF CONVERSATION SERIES will again offer intimate discussions with leading Hollywood executives. This year’s series will feature Klopper, director Reggie Hudlin (“House Party,” “Boomerang”), Nikkole Denson-Randolph, VP, Specialty & Alternative Content for theatre giant AMC, and screenwriter Herschel Weingrod (“Brewster’s Millions”). “What we have to offer our guests each year just keeps getting better and better,” says PVIFF Executive Director, Len Gibson. “we have expanded our programming this year to include a greater focus on casting and finance to better meet our audiences needs. Our goal is to provide our attendees with a better take-away experience in both areas when they leave the festival.” |
In addition to the Casting Workshop, PVIFF2012 will produce an additional Casting Panel that will include emerging actors Natauri Naughton (“Notorious” and “Lottery Ticket”), Chadwick Boatsman (star of the upcoming bio-pic on baseball great Jackie Robinson) and Atlanta’s own, actor Greg Allan Williams (“Necessary Roughness,” “W,” “The Preacher’s Kid,” etc.) as panelists. The always popular Finance & Distribution panel will feature Hollywood stalwarts, executive Joseph Chinese (Entertainment Partners) and Nikkole Denson-Randolph, who will also join the popular “How to Get Your Project Greenlit” panel. In partnership with the HBCU Network, PVIFF2012 will screen and announce the winner of the HBUC Film Festival. PVIFF2012 has also partnered with See Soul, Inc. (www.seesoul.com) which will offer digital distribution to top films that screen this year.
