[Nariba Herbert is the first lady of Alternative Quartet]

Nariba is from Curepe, Trinidad and Tobago and admits that music is her second love.  The top spot goes to her son, KYMANI ADE OBASSI OMOWALE. "He is my biggest accomplishment and favorite trophy." Her "mommy style" keeps her grounded, focused and ready for the world.

 

Nariba is a multi-award winning viola player and has a deep passion and admiration for her instrument and her music.

Nariba lends a multitude of sophisticated styles to Alternative Quartet, from classical to jazz to pop culture, and, is at the ready to exude the perfect panache' for any performance they embark upon. She is the very first female to join "A.Q." and one of the original standing members, garnering her the title " 1st lady of Alternative Quartet".

Having taught music for the past 6 years, Nariba has been an established member and principal violist of both the National Youth Orchestra and the St. Augustine Chamber Orchestras for the last 5 years, and for the latter ensemble, she has been elected as Assistant Musical Director. 

Over the course of her outstandingly celebrated career, Nariba has forged an envious reputation as one of the most distinguished and accomplished violists in Trinidad & Tobago's history. 

Nariba has performed alongside Grammy award-winning rap artiste, Kanye West and other high profiled artiste.

The proud recipient of both the Albert Kerr Cup and the Clara de Rosa Cup at the National Music Festival, Nariba’s instrumental skills bring a full-bodied richness to the Alternative Quartet’s performance.

Slightly larger and thus deeper, darker and smoother than the traditional violin, the viola’s mellow voice is used for playing inner harmonies that complement the violin and cello to create the enriched, melodious and contemporary sound for which the Alternative Quartet have become known.

Nariba is excited about the quartet's first CD which is slated for release this summer and says " many hours of hard work and dedication have gone into this masterful work" and she is assured that everyone from far and wide will have "something to love" on the CD.

'Passengers' Cast Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence Team Up for New Movie

Georgia’s film industry is growing one movie at a time. The next major motion picture to film in the Atlanta area is Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s new movie ‘Passengers’. Tom Rothman gave the thumbs-up to  Passengers  with a budget of about $120m after tax incentives. Sony Pictures has just given the nod for the production of 'Passengers,' an interstellar romance starring two big names of Hollywood - Christ Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. People reported that both the stars are expected to get two paychecks for the upcoming film It's set on a spaceship, the cast is the same size as Gravity's, and the budget is huge.  But what else do we know about 2016's biggest sci-fi film?
