Disney Unveils Their Next Big Animated Movie 


In celebration of a slew of announcements at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif, audiences were treated to never-before-seen clips and concept art behind their most anticipated properties — Lasseter announced the development of Zootopia, a brand-new concept for 2016 that puts the animals back in clothes.

Disney Animation has been quietly preparing a number of secret projects, one of which is their 2016 feature, a project called Zootopia. Announced for the very first time at Disney's D23 Expo, the animated movie is being directed by Tangled's Byron Howard from a script by Jared Bush and takes place in a different world where animals are essentially people.

Disney's Zootopia plot summed up: a buddy action comedy set in a world where humans never existed. It focuses on two animals from opposite sides ("flat teeth vs sharp teeth"): Nick Wilde, a fox (seen below), and Lt. Judy Hopps, a rabbit, who start off as enemies and eventually become friends. Here's the official plot synopsis from Disney: In the animal city of Zootopia, The comedic adventure film follows Nick Wilde,a fast-talking fox who's trying to make it big goes on the run when he's framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia's top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they're forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends. The entire world is meant to be designed by animals, as if from their minds not ours. For example: "A mountain is an apartment building, and there are 'habitats' instead of neighborhoods." They have a Wall Street Gerbil and polar bear karaoke in Tundratown.

The filmmakers said they reached out to anthropologists and animal kingdom specialists for how animals might build a civilization in a world devoid of human beings. They joked that they initially created a wildebeest character as a smart-looking man in a business suit until scientists informed them that wildebeests are among the dumbest animals on earth, prompting them to alter the character to a dim-witted creature in a "I'm with Gnu-pid" t-shirt.

In a nod to how the real world has animal habitats, Zootopia is divided into different regions for different animals of different environments. There's Sahara Square, a fabulously wealthy desert region patterned after Dubai and Monte Carlo complete with casinos and brightly lit nighttime cityscapes; the winter wonderland of Tundratown, where ice mountains are transformed into high rises; Little Rodentia; and the overwhelmingly cute and sweet Burrow Borough, home to a billion bunnies.

No voice cast has been announced for Zootopia yet, as they're still in early stages of development. Disney Animation is currently planning a release in 2016 for this movie

Zootopia proved to be one of the biggest and best movie surprises at the first day of D23.

'Passengers' Cast Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence Team Up for New Movie

Georgia’s film industry is growing one movie at a time. The next major motion picture to film in the Atlanta area is Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s new movie ‘Passengers’. Tom Rothman gave the thumbs-up to  Passengers  with a budget of about $120m after tax incentives. Sony Pictures has just given the nod for the production of 'Passengers,' an interstellar romance starring two big names of Hollywood - Christ Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. People reported that both the stars are expected to get two paychecks for the upcoming film It's set on a spaceship, the cast is the same size as Gravity's, and the budget is huge.  But what else do we know about 2016's biggest sci-fi film?
