Matrix Movie Trilogy Confirmed, Keanu Reeves 'Neo' Returns
New Matrix Movie Trilogy Release Date Confirmed!
Keanu Reeves 'Neo' Returns As New Film To Focus On Previous Versions Of Neo!
Warner Bros. is planning a new "Matrix" trilogy. The story will focus on the many different Neo's introduced in the "Matrix" sequels!
The Wachowski siblings, Andy and Lana, have already started work on a new series of the sci-fi films.
The the filmmakers - who directed the original trilogy - "have already started the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio".
Warner Bros is desperate for a surefire franchise and will be making a push to have the new Matrix films ready to go up against any new Star Wars and Avatar films by 2017.
The Matrix, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Laurence Fishburne, was released in 1999 and became a cult hit.
It was followed by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.
This isn't surprising as Warner Bros. is rebooting a franchise and they want to build another one in the case of the rebooted Godzilla, and are working hard to build the franchises of Batman, Superman and other heroes in the attempt to make a DC Cinematic universe so it is possible that they have the "Matrix" in mind as a possible franchise to revisit.
Sean O' Connel at cinemablend notes that "The thing about The Matrix is that there are numerous stories that can be told inside of that original universe. And you don't even have to bring back original stars like Keanu Reeves or Laurence Fishburne. The Wachowskis could easily explore some of the fringe players in their initial trilogy, finding so many other stories to tell with new, cutting-edge technologies."
However, the Architect in the second "Matrix" movie notes that Reeves' Neo wasn't the only "One" so it is possible the new movies could feature the many "Ones" may return.
So what do you think? Should they leave the "Matrix" trilogy alone or does making a new "Matrix" trilogy a good idea? Sound off in the comments below!
