The day the world turned purple to remember Prince

The music industry, nation and world took time to memorialize Prince in the best way through his signature color: purple. Here’s a sample of locations choosing to recognize the Purple One after his death at 57 on Thursday.

In Minneapolis, one of the many places remembering their native son (Prince was born in the city in 1958) was Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, which went purple and included a touching message to the deceased musician.

Google swiftly implemented a Prince-themed A 4 Prince  streaked with purple rain.

In Los Angeles, the Forum went purple. Prince played a legendary 12 shows at the location in 2011, part of his Welcome 2 America tour.

Back in Minneapolis, the famed I-35 Bridge over the Mississippi River was illuminated purple.

Another Minneapolis bridge, another tribute, as the Lowry Avenue bridge was illuminated for the artist Thursday night.

Similarly, the Burns Bridge in Boston, connecting Worcester and Shrewsbury, memorialized the artist with violet lights.

Baltimore City Hall also recognized Prince’s influence by casting violet light over its facilities dome.

Even space had the good taste to feature a vivid shade of purple, as NASA shared a photo of a nebula in honor of Prince’s passing.

And finally, breathtaking Niagara Falls somehow became even more beautiful.

"If we learned anything from the death of Prince is that he dedicated to his life to his music and how he brought communities together through his music. One of his missions were to change the world and he didn't care what anyone thought of him and how he did things. One of his songs say it he didn't care if you thought he was BLACK OR WHITE STRAIGHT OR GAY. We as people should stay true to yourself and concentrate on making yourself a better person without having tearing another person down. CHANGE YOURSELF AND THE WAY YOU THINK, CHANGE THE WORLD."
