WASHINGTON — Omarosa Manigault Newman, the former pantomime villain of Donald Trump's Apprentice television show before becoming a senior aide to President Trump, has resigned, the White House said Wednesday.
Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Newman resigned Tuesday "to pursue other opportunities," and that her departure is effective Jan. 20 — exactly one year into the Trump presidency.
Image result for Omarosa at the White HouseNewman, 43, was the most prominent African-American face of Trump's White House, working on outreach to historically black colleges and universities and racial disparities in the military justice system. But, Manigault Newman's tenure was marred by stories about her ill-defined responsibilities and her frequent clashes with fellow White House aides. The former television personality made headlines earlier this year when a White House reporter, April Ryan, claimed a disagreement between herself and Manigault Newman nearly got physical.
But it was her social life that more often grabbed headlines. She married Florida pastor John Allen Newman at Trump's Washington hotel in April, reportedly using the White House as a backdrop for her wedding photos. Her $25,000 dress was provided by TLC television's Say Yes to the Dress.
Her official title was assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. She made $179,700, the top salary allowed by law for White House aides.
In language typical of White House statements on previous departures, Sanders said, "We wish her the best in future endeavors and are grateful for her service.”
Her departure at the one-year mark of Trump's presidency may become part of what observers expect to be an exodus of White House aides early next year. Dina Powell, deputy national security adviser, has already announced her impending exit this month.

Georgia’s film industry is growing one movie at a time. The next major motion picture to film in the Atlanta area is Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s new movie ‘Passengers’.
